Architectural Review Process

Every proposed change to the exterior of a home or property is reviewed by the Architectural Review Committee, responsible for preserving the integrity of our community. Changes must be approved by the Committee in advance of any work. In addition to changes to your home, major landscaping changes must also be approved, as they may affect the surface drainage and surrounding areas.

To begin this process, please review the relevant sections for your project in the Raintree Rules and Regulations. Then, use the Raintree Architectural Request Form to submit your request. This form can be mailed in at the address provided, or uploaded here, with accompanying materials. Please be as specific as possible and include drawings or renderings of any project.

The Architectural Review Committee will be in touch with any questions or additional information needed. The Committee strives to respond with 2 weeks of receiving your request. The Board of Directors reserves the right to require a homeowner, who has not obtained prior written approval for a project, to remove (at the homeowner’s expense) any external alteration or addition.

Additional Permits
Approval of any project by the Architectural Review Committee does not waive the necessity of obtaining the required Municipal building permits.  Further, obtaining a Municipal building permit does not waive the need for Architectural Review Committee approval.

Please note, Township Permits are required prior to beginning a project for the following:

  • Sheds
  • Patios, porches and decks, whether brick, sand or concrete
  • Fences
  • Walkways
  • Some electrical, plumbing, heating ventilation and air conditioning work.

Please contact the Township Codes Office at (215) 968-2000 ext. 255 for further information.
